How much of a difference can one woman make?

My name is Natalie Corridan-Gregg and I am a Director of Technology Analysis at EMC Corporation.

You can read all about EMC at their website here, but for the purpose of this blog let’s say it is a multi-billion dollar storage hardware and software corporation that employs tens of thousands of people. The Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF), a women’s affinity circle inside of EMC, has been a large part of my life since I started at EMC in 2001. I believe that there is no such thing as better or improved. There is only transformation. To make a real difference is to transform someone’s experience. That belief combined with a passion for inclusion led me to the path I am on today. I wanted to transform the experience of being woman working at EMC. The teams of women who volunteer to drive the WLF events have transformed the way women look at their careers, their development and most especially the way that they network. In 2006, I blissfully joined the ranks of the Working Mothers. My first full day back at EMC, I fortuitously ran into one of my role models outside of the ladies room. I told her that I was comfortable with my decision to work, but that I was still finding my way. She told me that looking back on things…”I missed a few things here and there, but overall it is a richer, fuller life.” I think about that sentence often when I am about to “miss one of those things” and I realize that this is the life for me. Becoming a mother also rekindled a love of keeping a journal, then a blog, and finally the idea for a book. I hope you enjoy the blog.

The Working Mother Experience book showcases the unique choices, daily challenges, and victories working mothers experience in today’s business world and in their personal lives. The essayists are the perfect examples of individuals who each day creatively and successfully manage the balancing act that is the working mother’s experience. On a higher level, we believe this book showcases evolution of EMC as a company, as well as its commitment to inclusion, diversity and continuous improvement.
